Why sell on ebay?

Firstly there's the obvious and most interesting reason-to make money, or a full time living if you want. Secondly it gives you the opportunity to de-clutter your home. Also it is environmentally friendly-items are recycled to someone who wants them rather than been throw into a land fill, its a win win!

 

Where to start?

firstly to get used to how ebay works you should start by selling something from your home you no longer use-for example an old cd or dvd an item of clothing you longer wear or like, then after this move onto sourcing items elsewhere to sell for profit (we'll discuss this later on)

 

Do your research!

Whenever you sell any item on ebay Its important to do your research before hand, what is meant by this is to find the item you intend to sell on ebay-see how much it is being sold for so that you get a rough idea of how much you can sell it for. The title you give to your item is crucial, because if you don't use popular search terms for your listing will receive far fewer potential buyers-make sure to check ebay pulse and see what the most popular search terms are in the category your listing the item. Use the popular search terms you find there in your item title but make sure it is still coherent and makes sense.

 

Be honest!

Make sure your item description is truthful and honest if the item has a defect or problem make sure that you state this. Be as honest as you can while still making it attractive to potential buyers. This is crucial because if its not honest then you are very likely to receive negative feedback, bad feedback will kill any chance of making serious money on ebay-the golden rule to remember here is to treat them as you would want to be treated yourself, so be honest, maintain good communication with buyers and post the item in good condition promptly.

 

Picture perfect!

Always add a picture to your listings-those that don't will receive considerably less interest  and therefore make non or far less cash. Ebay often runs promotions where you can add pictures for free, or you can use auctiva to add pictures for free and listing designs etc.

 

Finding things to sell!

After your initial rummage through your house, you will have sold most of your unwanted items-so what now? well you will need to source other items to sell for profit-the first place to look is on ebay itself-you can pick up items from ebay wholesale and job lots category in particular. also you can profit from incorrectly spelt items on ebay-use Fatfingers to search for misspelt items-they receive less viewers and so sell for less than correctly spelled items, so you snap them up,then list them with the correct spellings for a nice profit. Making serious money!

To start making serious money you need to start selling more items for more profit-use the "finding things to sell" section above and also another crucial part of your success is to drive far more potential customers to your listings-Firstly start by getting repeat sales from previous buyers-how do you do this? By keeping them happy and providing them with a good service, its a good idea to throw in an extra freebie that they were not expecting. After the sale tell them that:

The customer gets a freebie they were not expecting and so are more likely to be happier with the purchase and therefore leave positive feedback and return to you for more future sales, again a Win-Win situation! You can automate the sending of this message by logging into your ebay account, go to marketing tools, then customise end of auction emails, click exchange then paste the above section into custom message!
